seaQuest DSV 4600, otherwise known as seaQuest or seaQuest DSV, is the titular submarine designed by Nathan Bridger. It is the first submarine to bear the name, exiting service in 2019 when it self-destructs to prevent an environmental catastrophe.

Nor-Pac Service

As a project of Nor-Pac, seaQuest is designed by Nathan Bridger, a well-respected military officer and futurist. The ship had many different technologically-advanced features integrated into it, making it the largest submersible of the seven seas. Built in San Francisco, Bridger did not see the ship to completion as he left the Navy following the reported death of his son, Robert.

The ship was completed and entered service during the height of the "land rush" for mineral and undersea resources in the mid 2010s. Captain Marilyn Stark, a student of Nathan Bridger, commands seaQuest under Nor-Pac Command, mainly serving to defuse situations with other confederations. Her beliefs and the ever-constant reality of rapid escalation and deescalation of skirmishes lead to her decision to disobey Nor-Pac stand-down orders, with her executive officer, Jonathan Ford, relieving her of command under Article 20, Section 8 of Nor-Pac Command regulations. This event, the Livingston Trench Incident, galvanizes the desire of many to seek other non-military solutions, with seaQuest embodying this new direction (DSV: "To Be or Not to Be").

UEO Service

Seven months following the Livingston Trench Incident in 2017, Nor-Pac provides seaQuest to the United Earth/Oceans Organization (UEO). In the six months that follow, seaQuest undergoes refit as a hybrid military and science submarine, overseen by Commander Jonathan Ford.

UEO's leadership, spearheaded by Admiral William Noyce, begins a unique campaign to recruit Nathan Bridger back into the fold for seaQuest's captaincy (DSV: "To Be or Not to Be").
