The power station is a large, industrial complex, with a central heat exchanger, vertical vents, and a network of industrial buildings, storage tanks, and pipes. Built over a volcanic vent, it harnesses the trapped heat to generate energy for its turbines.

In 2018 CE, the Gedrick Power Station is attacked by the renegade [[Typhoon-class|''Typhoon''-class]] submarine, under the command of Captain [[Marilyn Stark]]. The attack is unprovoked and is carried out with [[E-Plasma torpedoes]], which inflict significant damage to the station. The station's outer structure is cracked open, and electrical plasma discharge is visible in the surrounding area. The attack causes a distress signal from the power station that is picked up by ''[[SeaQuest DSV|seaQuest]]''. The attack also causes considerable damage to the station's minimal defenses.
